This piano suite serves as a sequel to my song, "thayer", from my Suite: they hear but cannot seem to listen. It features a modified version of the melody in the third movement, as well as various elements of the song in the fifth and sixth movements.
The music itself serves as a tribute to one of my best friends and someone that I love very much. The development of the music itself tells the story of our relationship, while her ballad attempts to convey every emotion she has ever made me feel.

There are numerous Dream Theatre credits. The name of the opus is in itself a reference to Dream Theatre's fifth record, which also is an album that serves as a sequel to a single song. In addition, there is a section from the very same record, in the song "The Dance of Eternity", that is featured in the movement, "Is This Really Happening?" It is a tad altered, but the ragtime section should be considered written by Dream Theatre.
The final movement is an adaption of the popular 1939 song, "You Are My Sunshine". The tune is not written by me. In addition, the subtitle of the concerto takes it's name from the same song.
The name of the second movement, "From the Beginning", shares a name with an ELP track from their record: Trilogy.
The name of the final movement, "Black Dog", shares a name with an AJJ track that features the lyrics and tune of "You Are My Sunshine".
